Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 each eggs
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup nuts
  • 2 teaspoons soda
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
Instructions
  1. Cream shortening
  2. Add sugar
  3. Blend in eggs, applesauce, salt, flour, salt, and spices.
  4. Dissolve soda in boiling water.
  5. Add alternately with flour.
  6. Bake 350 for 50 minutes
